After a long waiting period since the cancellation of the extremely popular Netflix show, the rights to Daredevil are set to revert to Marvel near the end of this month.

The rights to the Marvel character, Daredevil, are reportedly set to return to Marvel at the end of this month. Which of course means the character will finally be available for use in the MCU.
Fans have been in a state of outrage and confusion ever since Netflix first announced they were cancelling the extremely Daredevil TV series. Many hoped that somehow the show would be continued. Fans have campaigned starting the #SaveDaredevil hashtag but it seems this has all been to no avail, now the Daredevil right will be returning to Marvel this month.
Even Marvel themselves didn’t see it coming at the time, but given the huge popularity boost the character has received, it’s safe to say it won’t be too long before we see him return to our screens.
Which is why it seems very convenient that Spider-Man 3 production begins just as the Daredevil character rights return to Marvel. Especially since there’s already a lot of speculation that Matt Murdock will be showing up in the next Spider-Man to help in his current situation. So is this just a mere coincidence or is there more to it?
So, Does Netflix Own Daredevil?
The rights situations with the Marvel characters that have featured on Netflix are a little different to the situations that Marvel has with other characters such as Spider-Man (who’s still currently under the Sony roof but is being used by Marvel due to a deal they struck allowing both companies to use eachothers characters).
Marvel Studios do still technically own the rights to the Daredevil property, as with the rest of The Defenders but the initial deal between Marvel and Netflix stated that should any of the series’ face cancellation, Marvel Studios couldn’t use those characters until exactly 18 months after the show’s cancellation.
So as a result of this, Marvel have been unable to include any of the characters that featured in the Netflix shows in any of their recent shows or movies. But Marvel being the masters of long-term plans that they have proven themselves to be it would be a safe bet that they already have plans outlined for Daredevil’s inclusion in the MCU.
Whether this would be on the big screen, Disney+ or even Hulu is up for speculation. But given the timing and Spider-Man’s current situation in the MCU, this could be the perfect opportunity for them to bring Daredevil into the mix.
Will Charlie Cox Return As Daredevil?

It will come as a disappointment to many that Charlie Cox himself isn’t holding much about that his version of Ol’ Hornhead will be continuing in any medium. “I don’t feel that way, no. And, I don’t know why I don’t feel that way,” the actor proclaimed to Comicbook.com. “But, I haven’t been given any reason to believe that. And, from a cynical point of view, it just feels like maybe I’m trying to protect myself, ’cause I’d love nothing more than to do it again.”
Cox has also been quick to shoot down any rumours of him showing up in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 alongside current Spider-Man, Tom Holland. He said that if there are any plans for the character to appear, it will not include his involvement.

At least have an actual pole if you write it as the caption on Twitter. How does one vote? You can’t be expecting everyone to comment here (something people don’t like doing anymore) instead of having a pole on Twitter or on the site itself.
I take my comment back I misunderstood the hashtag about the poll. Sorry 🙂
