Michael Gandolfini who recently appeared in The Mainy Saint of Newark playing a younger version of his father, the late great James Gandolfini has been cast a major role for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. The series sees the long-awaited return of Charlie Cox as he plays fan favourite blind vigilante Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. We’re also set to see the return of Vincent D’Onofrio, who to the delight of many will be reprising his role as the villainous Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin.
Fans were heartbroken when Netflix announced they were cancelling the Daredevil Netflix series. It made little sense at the time because the show had such a large devout following. However, that’s all irrelevant now as Marvel has announced the guardian devil’s return in a new Disney+ series entitled Daredevil: Born Again.
Sources have told Deadline that Michael Gandolfini’s role is set to be a major role but it’s currently unknown the exact role he’ll be playing. What we do know is that the show will be written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the creators of Covert Affairs. As previously mentioned, we also know that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising their highly esteemed roles of Daredevil and Kingpin in an 18-episode series centred around around Daredevil, blind lawyer by day and crimefighting vigilante at night.
The only information given about Gandolfini’s character is that he may be playing “an ambitious guy from Staten Island referred to as Liam” Who could this be? If you have any ideas let us know in the comment section down below.
Gandolfini was also recently seen in Paramount+ limited series The Offer, and also in the feature film Cherry. Starring in his first role at the age of 12, Michael is set to appear in 5 other upcoming projects and it’s clear that he is following the footsteps of his incredibly talented father who sadly passed away in 2013.
The 18-episde first season of Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024 and we couldn’t be more exited.
